Gobekli Tepe

Göbekli Tepe (Turkish for “Pottery Hill”) was discovered more then 18 years ago by a Turkish Sheppard and although he is not a scientist he was not given the honor due him for finding this ancient site (a site which closely resembles a small ancient city)   This poor sheppard thought at first that the rock he stumbled over was just that but after nine (9) long years of digging he discovered a 19 foot high, perfectly sculpted column of granite.  During the past 4+ years a German and Turkish archaeological teams have worked hard to discover the contents of this mysterious buried city and of course when it was built and by whom…  so far, no answers to the big questions, only more questions.

Six miles from Urfa, an ancient city in southeastern Turkey, Klaus Schmidt (the head of the German archaeological team,  has made some of the most startling archaeological discoveries of our time:   massive carved stones about 13,000 years old (or quite possibly much older), crafted and arranged by prehistoric people  (people who lived on the Earth prior to our knowledge of history) who according to our limited knowledge and understanding of the people and technology of that time,  had not yet developed metal tools or even pottery.

Göbekli Tepe (Turkish for “Potbelly hill”) is a hilltop sanctuary erected on the highest point of an elongated mountain ridge some 15 km northeast of the town of Şanlıurfa (formerly Urfa / Edessa) in southeastern Turkey.   The site is currently undergoing excavation by German and Turkish archaeologists.

Until excavations began, a complex of this scale was not thought possible for a community so ancient.   The massive sequence of stratification layers suggests several millennia of activity, perhaps reaching back to the Mesolithic.   The oldest occupation layer (stratum III) contains monolithic pillars linked by coarsely built walls to form circular or oval structures.   Göbekli Tepe has revealed several adjacent rectangular rooms with floors of polished lime, reminiscent of Roman terrazzo floors.

At present, Göbekli Tepe raises more questions for archaeology and the history of Man than it answers.   We do not know how a force large enough to construct, augment, and maintain such a substantial complex was mobilized or fed in the conditions of  pre-Neolithic society.            We cannot “read” the pictograms, (they are of a language we have no familiarity with) and we do not know for certain what meaning the animal relief’s had for visitors to the site.   The variety of fauna depicted, from lions and boars to birds and insects, makes any single explanation problematic because they all depict a time when these animals did exist and were nearby and which today they no longer exist nor are any within the local area.

Speculation seems to indicate the structure to have been built long before the last major ice age on this planet.  This is a period of time ranging from 13,000 years ago all the way back to 46,000 years ago.   One more note of worth concerns the tools used to create this structure…  to this day there have been NO tools whatsoever found at the site.

Discoveries such as is have provided scientists with a great many unanswered questions about ancient man and his environment, knowledge, capabilities and technology.  No one wants to admit to it but the consensus is ancient Man was not ignorant or without technology.  In fact is old Sumer (now Iraq) there are many records and tablets that explain the very beginnings of Human life on this planet.   Also explained  is the advent of alien teachers and rulars.   These same “Stories”,  myths and legends of gods are found on every continent and among every ancient people.  The various gods of olden days mentioned in these myths and legends are virtually the same gods with only different names.

Add to all of this the actual knowledge  that came from Sumer and the people in this area.  The ancient people knew more about the heavens, space, the solar system the various planets, other stars and heavenly bodies then we do today.   The ancient people were able to build structures composed of megalithic stones weighing in at 100′s of tons… far more then our present ability to lift almost all of them.   There was an order to their thinking and living… an order that by far exceeds anything we have today in any political structure of any nation.

National Geographic is a great magazine but it is polarized to reflect only specific and “approved viewpoints”  about ancient knowledge, structures and people.  The pictures are great but the words are less then truthful and reflect a bias and prejudice in thinking and presentation.    I mention this fact only because you will find information about Gobekli Tepe at this magazine but be warned about the prejudice and bias of the writers.   These people receive support and permissions from the churches and governments of the world and will not go against the modern pablum served to humanity concerning its origins or ancestors.  Search the Internet for information about this ancient structure and you will be amazed.
